About Amy

"Amy Obenski employs breathy jazzy vocals with luxurious catchy hooks that bend and drip down your spine giving you a nice tingle of delight." -Smother Magazine

We've all heard a female singer-songwriter who wears her emotions on her sleeve and drips with sincerity. But Amy Obenski is not that. Obenski steps over the emotions and thoughts we keep just under the surface, and looks for the deeper, more hidden meanings that we often overlook. With "gripping" lyrics and "haunting" vocals, Obenski's songs are conveyed to the audience on a more intimate level (Good Times Santa Cruz, High Bias). Like a whisper that shakes your soul awake, her voice is gentle yet oddly powerful, rising above and piercing through the noise and chaos of today's world.

Obenski's song, "Carousel", was recently placed on the hit TV show, Grey's Anatomy. Since then the song moved to number 23 on the iTunes Folk Chart. Obenski's first success landed in her lap when an MTV executive approached her after hearing her songs on someone's iPod. Her first album, "What We Tell", which was finished only two years after writing her first song, was then licensed by MTV for use in their show, "MADE".

Amy Obenski has now released two self-produced albums that have received radio play throughout the West Coast, Alaska, and Massachusetts. She's played notable venues such as Biscuits and Blues in San Francisco, and has opened for the John Butler Trio at Temple Bar in Los Angeles.

Growing up in San Diego, California, Obenski was encouraged musically from the beginning. She started singing in choir at age five, and began piano lessons when she was seven. She attended a public school in San Diego, (School of the Creative and Performing Arts), similar to "Fame", the old TV show from the Eighties. In this setting she thrived artistically, participating in award winning choirs for eight years, as well as other musical and artistic activities. One year after college graduation from UC Santa Cruz, and tired of nine to five office work, she picked up a guitar and wrote her first song. From that point forward there was no question where her career was headed.
